FAQ

  • Are dogs kenneled throughout the day?
Only the board and train dogs are kenneled. Daycare dogs aren’t unless a dog is causing problems, or the owner requests it :). We aim to emulate a home environment during kenneling, to keep your dog as comfortable as possible.
  • What kind of leashes do you use? Or do we send our pups leash?
    We use our own slip-leashes.
  • How do you tell if a dog is uncomfortable when crowded or their personal space is crowded?
They go stiff and their eye pupils get big. We always remain attentive to mitigate these occurrences, and are ready to act at the first signs of trouble.
  • Do you allow parents to drop off and pick up?
Though all of our parents are welcome to come out we don’t allow personal pick-ups and drop-offs unless agreed upon in advance. Emergency situations are understood. We allow pick up and drop off for boarding clients at a scheduled time convenient for all parties.
  • Do you use shock/bark collars on dogs?
    No we do not.
  • What are your interpretations of "humping" between dogs?
Humping between dogs is a gesture of dominance and /or anxious behavior from either dog.
  • Are dogs kenneled in vehicles?
Some dogs are kenneled while in vehicles. Some dogs are uncomfortable when in close proximity and those are the ones that are kenneled. Most dogs are free-roaming in our vehicles.
  • What tools do you use on dogs when it comes to training?
We utilize dominant slip-leashes (per parents consent) , 2.25 or 3.00 mm germ-springer prong collars (per parents consent), educator e-collars (per parents consent), gently leader (per parents consent), long leashes, and kennels.
  • How do you ensure dogs are safe during daycare and Day School?
Though there are risks with having a pack of dogs together, we always remain diligent and do our best to minimize issues, and deter them altogether. Dogs have to pass a temperament assessment (Meet and Greet Session) before joining any socialization services. Iowa law states that there must be 1 adult present for every 15 dogs in service. We maintain higher standards to ensure safety, utilizing a ratio of 1:10. If a dog is being unruly they will be separated until we feel we can let them re-engage with the pack.
